Northern Lights Casino’s Community Support Receives Deserved Recognition

The past months have been quite busy for Northern Lights Casino dedicating efforts towards improving the community through various initiatives and improvements. These have been recognized as the gaming venue received the Community Involvement Award and was named the 2019 Business of the Year at the Samuel McLeod Business Awards. General Manager Richard Ahenakew accepted the award, which came as a surprise to him.

Casino venues are capable of polarizing the opinion in any given host community due to its controversial nature. People opposing gambling are often against a given location, as it could bring problem gambling issues, financial struggle, as well as increased crime rates. Meanwhile, a gaming venue has the potential to generate substantial gaming revenue that is later on allocated to the host community part of the revenue-sharing agreement.

Casino Staff Always Ready to Help

The awards aimed to praise good deeds and stellar performance on a local level and the casino venue worked hard in order to deserve this honor. Mr. Ahenakew pointed out that the first award for the night was unexpected to him. The second one was equally as shocking as the first one, but he was quick to point out that the casino venue is a team aiming at achieving more for the town.

Even though he accepted the award, all employees that have worked hard for the past year are the actual reason for this success and recognition. Prince Edward was able to benefit substantially from the charitable work casino staff did over the past 12 months. This happened in unison with regular gaming revenue allocations further proving the desire to achieve goals and make history.

Casino staff wanted to support the local food bank which prompted inventiveness and new ideas. The local initiative had to be boosted by the casino venue employees, which meant that individuals saw a chance of showcasing their fresh outlook on life and showcasing their warm feelings toward their bosses.

General Manager Accepts Awards

They wanted to make life-size models of the casino venue leading figures, a task that ended up being even more entertaining than it seems. Once all the food was gathered at the casino venue for the food bank initiative, gaming venue employees commenced their part of the work, which had to see the construction of their actual managers. This resulted in collaboration and an overall great time for everyone involved.

In addition to that, the casino venue has also welcomed events offering warm meals for everyone in need, as well as collecting clothes that would no longer be worn by their owners. The casino staff reaching 400 individuals was also able to bring quick and visible updates to the local community via the repainting of several playgrounds at the local Bernice Sayese Centre. Those in need of repair work were also benefitted from the charity work performed.

Mr. Ahenakew pointed out that all initiatives have been accomplished thanks to the incessant efforts of the casino staff and their relentless work towards an honorable goal. It could be recalled that October 2018 saw a conversation about a casino venue working around the clock. It was simply an idea, as the General Manager clarified, but nevertheless, one that has the capacity of increasing gaming revenue immensely if it receives approval.
