What and Who is Inpay?

Inpay is a secure and FSA-regulated (Danish Financial Supervisory Authority) financial infrastructure which uses traditional banks to affect the exchange of funds from one entity to another. It is also a member of the SWIFT system.

With offices in Copenhagen and London, the company services accounts in over 60 countries. Over 800 million consumers worldwide have access to the system.

The company was founded in 2007 by Jacob Tackmann Thomsen, an online data security expert with over a quarter century of experience in fraud prevention and detection. Other companies owned by Thomsen include Denmark’s Netgroup, a hosting and data security company launched in the early 2000s.

In early 2018 the company acquired cross-border payment solutions provider, Eurogiro. The acquired company was established by 14 European postal organizations in 1993.

Note: Inpay should not be confused with InPay, a cryptocurrency worth about a penny per coin at today’s prices. They are completely unrelated.

How to use Inpay

The first requirement to use the Inpay system is that the casino must accept the payment method. See our list of approved Canadian casinos accepting Inpay, or simply look in the cashier section of your favorite gaming site for Bank Transfer or a similar option.

Choose the Inpay option, enter Canada, and the name of your banking institution. If they are not on the network, you may still have the option to transfer funds. However, it may take as long as 24 hours in some instances. The best way to know… is to try!

Your own financial institution’s online banking interface will request information. Submit the payment request and the funds should be in your casino account immediately or within a few minutes.

Depending on which of the Inpay services your casino uses – Express or White Label – you will be able to deposit via PayIn by using the Inpay website (Express) or use PayIn and PayOut (White Label) right on the casino website. Either way, the transaction will be treated as a local bank transfer. Your payment will be made within the secure and familiar environment of your own online bank.

Inpay Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an Inpay account?

No. There’s no need to create an account with Inpay. The system works much like Interac eTransfer – you simply use the company’s infrastructure to transfer funds from your bank to the casino, and back again where available.

Is Inpay safe?

You will not be giving the casino operator any card numbers, secure codes, bank account numbers, or passwords. The transaction is processed through your normal online banking page. The casino site simply helps you open that page, which is encrypted and secure.

All Inpay systems, transactions, transfers, and infrastructure are protected by antivirus programs, full-stack firewalls, multi-factor authentication and real-time penetration testing using big data and AI.

How much does it cost?

Inpay doesn’t charge consumers anything when they do a transaction. Individual banks may have associated fees. If you use USD to deposit in CAD or otherwise need currency converted, there may be exchange fees. Since all transactions are done as local bank transfers, it’s best to simply transfer funds in CAD if the casino accepts the currency – most do.

Can I change my mind after making a deposit?

No. The process is nearly instantaneous so you would need to request that your bank recover the transaction. Due to anti-money laundering and other considerations, the casino cannot simply refund a deposit that hasn’t been played through. It is impossible to “charge-back” a local bank transfer, so once you receive confirmation of your deposit, the money is no longer available in your bank account.

Inpay Conclusion

While Inpay may not be the most elegant solution for some Canadian players, others may find the payment method very much to their liking. Those with bank accounts who enjoy playing at casinos that accept Interac eTransfer might have little reason to change their current method. However, if options like Neosurf, Paysafecard, or bank cards are not working as well or as often as you’d like, Inpay may be a viable alternative.

As casino banking goes through changes here, and what may work well one day may not work the next, we’re glad alternatives like Inpay are always on the horizon and being made available to players.
