The community of Belleville took the time to celebrate the progress it has accomplished powered by gambling operation this Thursday with a special gathering at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Center. Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, as well as Great Canadian Gaming Corporation representatives, attended the gathering,

The casino operator oversees operation of Shorelines Casino Belleville, meaning that the gaming performance is crucial for the city coffers. OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement has been able to support the community and fund a wide array of projects around it as compensation for the gambling operation. This week saw the official issuing of allocation information for the time period between April 1, 2017, and March 31, 2018. City coffers were able to bag some CA$2.9 million.

Casino Allocations Poured into the Community

Celebrations were in order because of the benefits the community has seen over the fiscal year and Mayor Mitch Panciuk expressed his gratitude. He pointed out that various purchases have been made with the aforementioned funding. Some of them could be seen around the community such as the new police vehicles and specialized aerial ladder and truck chassis for the local fire department.

The community was also able to witness various infrastructural improvements such as shave and paving, as well as surface treatments. Two signs were also installed – the Belleville gateway one and the Belleville Signature Sign. Belleville was also able to work on establishing public wi-fi that could be used by anyone on the waterfront trail. The generous allocation was also used for the renovation of existing recreational facilities and the construction of brand new ones.

Victoria Park Docks saw extensive electrical work making it a more pleasant place to be. Stanley Park welcomed a new playground for children of all ages. In addition to that Bell Boulevard saw construction work and more lanes for comfortable transportation. Members of the community greatly enjoy open-air activities, further improved by the fresh new look of the parks and recreational projects.

Overall Amount Surpasses CA$5.9 Million

Casino cash was also used for the support of local organizations such as Grace Inn Shelter, Gleaner’s Foodbank, and the Canadian Mental Health Services. Community Development Council of Quinte was also among the organization benefitting from a fair share of the casino cash generated at Shorelines Casino Belleville. Some five percent of the gambling revenue amassed by the location is then sent to the city coffers.

From here on out the allocations are going to happen in a different way, doubling up the percentage bagged by the community. As a result of this, the number of organizations benefitting from the allocations is going to increase and more people would eventually see the improvements of the gambling revenue slice. The community was also content to see the overall amount of casino cash increase.

Shorelines Casino Belleville saw its official launch in January 2017 contributing to the area ever since then. The overall amount to this day surpasses the CA$5.9 million mark. The last days of January brought the most recent regular quarterly allocation in non-tax gaming revenue. More than CA$805,000 was paid to the city.
